Some new words - inspired by COVID-19

In this novel coronavirus season learnt some new words.

  1. epidemic

    a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time.

  2. pandemic

    (of a disease) prevalent over a whole country or the world.

  3. Price gouging

    Price gouging is a term referring to when a seller increases the prices of goods, to a level much higher than is considered reasonable, and is considered exploitative, potentially to an unethical extent. Usually this event occurs after a demand or supply shock.

  4. Paywall

    A paywall is a method of restricting access to content via a purchase or paid subscription

Example sentence.

WHO said COVID-19 disease is epidemic and nearly pandemic officially pandemic today. While sellers are price gouging masks/sanitizing items, nature journal removed the paywall for all research involving coronavirus. Sweet!
